Emily Walton

CLINICAL PSYCHOLOGIST
About Me

Hi! I'm Emily, a South African, English speaking Clinical Psychologist offering individual and couples therapy in the Netherlands. Over the last eight years, I’ve worked with people facing a wide range of emotional and mental health challenges, from everyday stress and relationship difficulties to more complex psychiatric diagnoses. My professional journey has allowed me an opportunity to work with children, adults, couples and families from diverse backgrounds. In addition to my training in Clinical Psychology, I am also a qualified Social Worker.

My Approach

My therapeutic approach is holistic and person-centered, aiming to support the whole individual - emotionally, psychologically, and within their broader life context. I tailor therapy to meet each person's unique needs and circumstances. I draw from a range of evidence-based methods, including Dialectical Behaviour Therapy (DBT), Cognitive Behaviour Therapy (CBT), Gestalt Therapy, and Psychodynamic Psychotherapy. Now based in the Netherlands, I offer psychotherapy both in-person and online to expats and English-speaking individuals navigating life transitions, emotional challenges, or the complexities of living abroad.

Whether you're looking to heal from past hurts, enhance emotional intimacy, or navigate difficult conversations, couples therapy provides the tools and guidance needed to create a stronger, more fulfilling partnership.

Individual therapy provides a confidential and supportive environment for individuals to explore their thoughts, emotions, and behaviors. The therapist helps the client identify underlying issues, set goals, and work through emotional or mental health difficulties.

Getting Help

Reaching out for help can be one of the hardest steps to take, especially when you’re feeling overwhelmed, uncertain, or vulnerable. It’s not easy to acknowledge that you’re struggling, let alone share those feelings with someone else. However, seeking support is a powerful act of courage and self-care, and you don’t have to face your challenges alone. As a Clinical Psychologist, I am here to provide a safe, nonjudgmental space where we can work together to understand your concerns and find ways to move forward. Whether you’re dealing with anxiety, depression, relationship issues, or just need someone to talk to, I’m here to help. I offer both in-person and online sessions.
